BALB/c-nu
In 1973, C.W. Friis discovered a spontaneous mutation of hairless mice in the BALB/c inbred strain, which had underdeveloped thymus and lacked immune T cells, and was cultivated into BALB/c-nu. In 2014, SpePharm (Beijing) Biotechnology Co., Ltd. introduced and cultivated it from the Shanghai branch of the National Rodent Laboratory Animal Seed Center.
Features:
Hairless (naked), no thymus, unable to properly differentiate T cells, lacking mature T lymphocytes, low cellular immune function; no contact sensitivity, no transplant rejection; poor resistance, susceptible to viral hepatitis and pneumonia.
Applications
Commonly used in research on immunology, oncology, toxicology, basic medicine and clinical medicine.
